Srinagar, Oct 28 (KNO): Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather on Tuesday rejected an adjournment motion brought by a Bharatiya Janata Party legislator to discuss the impact of recent natural calamities, triggering protests from party lawmakers. As soon as the Question Hour commenced, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), BJP MLA Pawan Kumar Gupta drew the attention of the Chair to an adjournment motion concerning the losses suffered due to natural disasters. The Speaker said that the motion had been rejected in accordance with the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly. The ruling prompted protests from BJP legislators, who raised slogans such as “Jammu Ke Sath Insaf Karo” (Do justice with Jammu). In response, National Conference (NC) legislators countered with slogans like “Statehood Ko Wapas Karo” (Restore statehood).
